A new plane for Congo

This past Friday, we had the privilege of being a part of a prayer dedication for a new Cessna 208 Grand Caravan that will be going to East Congo to serve in Bunia! The team there has been needing  a larger airplane for some time and it is amazing to see how the Lord provided this particular plane.

This plane was on display at an airshow called Sun N Fun in Florida when a tornado came through and the airplane was one of many that was picked up and turned upside down. There was no one in the plane at the time but the plane did sustain significant damage (see the board on the left in our photo).

It was able to be repaired, both by another company and the guys in the maintenance hangar at MAF (Rodney included) and now it is ready to be sent to East Congo to begin service there. 

We marvel at the Lord's unexpected ways of providing for the needs of MAF and this past Friday was a wonderful time of rejoicing and celebration!

On a different note, Jaycee continues to heal nicely from her surgery. We have enjoyed being able to go back to church, Awana and our small group Bible Study from our church that meets mid-week.

Well, we finally did it! We started a blog to keep people up-to-date on our lives both here and overseas (when we eventually get there). ITS A BOY!

Tammi Lynne and Rodney Kent Dyrud had a baby boy last night Sun Sept 28,2008 at 11:46pm. His name is Justice Kent Dyrud; he is 8 lbs, 20 1/2 inches long and so far the health baby we (Tammi and I) have been praying for. Thank you for all of your prayers. Here is one of his first pictures. I am currently working on getting a video posted.

Spring/summer has arrived!

My first drink out of a big boy cup at almost 20 months old My first goatee..................... well, more like chocolate ice cream :) Today is our last holiday before the end of school. It has been in the 80s this weekend so we've started (finally!) putting away our scarves and hats and mittens and pulling out our shorts and tank tops. On Friday we went on a field trip to downtown Sherbrooke. We did a scavenger hunt where we had to ask people on the street (in French of course) to give us directions to certain buildings in the city. We were in five different teams and each team had different questions. Then we all got together at the end of the morning and shared our results; it was fun :-) We are also in the process of planning our trip back across the US at the end of June. We hope to see many family members and friends on our way back to California.
