Changes

Wednesday brought some interesting changes with it. As we told you in our last e-mail/post, Rodney was scheduled to fly his cross country on Wednesday and he was going to be evaluated in the simulator on Thursday. The weather was good today (no rain or thunderstorms) and Rodney was prepared to take off on his cross country. I'll let him tell you the rest of the story...

Well, we (Rodney and the Evaluator pilot Dave Ringenburg) started the engine and turned on the avionics master (the aircraft is a TU-206G). I pressed the okay button on the GPS (a Garmin 430, for navigation) and it went to the next screen and then went black. Then Dave said, "Do you smell that?" "Yes, I do." I replied. " Turn it off." Dave said. So we shut down the aircraft because we smelled burning wires. When the avionics tech came and checked it out it started smoking, so our flight was moved to the next day. We are just thankful that it happened in our own driveway (in the hanger, not in the air).

We flew the simulator today instead; boy talk about an intense 1.2 hours! It started off rough but improved as we went on and my approaches were good. My performance with every thing this time around has been much better.

Thanks for keeping up with us; we know many are praying for weather and safety and good recall and the Lord is answering!

Partnering with you, Rodney, Tammi and Baby Dyrud
